Job Title:  Claims Manager/Forensic Scheduler
 
Role Synopsis:
 
The Claims Manager will be responsible for providing support to the Claims Management Group in the preparation, analysis and evaluation of construction related claims and disputes.
 
Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities:
 
  • Provide support and advise Management and Project Teams in order to ensure that there is a clear understanding of the contract requirements and contractual obligations undertaken by CB&I and Entitlements of CB&I, both towards clients as well as subcontractors/vendors, are presented and handled at the appropriate time, in the appropriate manner, with the minimum amount of conflict and least amount of dispute
  • Work with project management, legal department representatives and external resources to develop and resolve constructions related claims and disputes
  • Evaluate project schedules and records to determine cause and effect of liability for construction delays, productivity losses, disruption and other issues
  • Produce evidence in a manner which supports the claim/defense that CB&I is making and consistent with the laws of the contract, jurisdiction and dispute resolution venue
  • Work with large volumes of information and be able to boil it down to a clear and simple presentation
  • Work with project management to ensure that claims received from third parties are timely and contractually defended, negotiated and effectively managed
  • Work with project management to ensure that negotiated settlements and financial closure of accounts are properly documented
Desired/Preferred Qualifications:
 
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Quality Surveying
  • 10 years of experience in EPFC industry
  • 5 years of experience in construction claims or contract administration
  • Knowledge of/experience with Primavera P6.
  • Experience in dispute resolution including Arbitration (including international), Mediation, and/or Trial a plus
  • Understanding of EPFC contracting
  • Knowledge of international contracts/agreements
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to travel to projects around the world, often for extended periods of time, to support on-site project teams in assessing and/or validating entitlement and quantification of damages while promoting an efficient, successful and timely resolutions of claims (travel +/- 50% expected)
  • Ability to work primarily in The Woodlands, Texas
